When Isaac's father William died in 1676, he gave Isaac half of his property in Ipswich. Referred to as "Corporal Isaac", he died on April 6, 1721, "upwards of 84". His son Jonathan did receive land promised to his father after his father's death.

Christened October 22, 1609, Foxton, Leicestershire, England
Died December 29, 1676, Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts
Parents Willyam Fellows, ---
Notes One of the earliest pioneers of the Fellows surname to arrive in America was William Fellows, who upon leaving England, appeared in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, in 1635. William's descendants would spread widely across New England and onward towards the west. 40

The origin of the Fellows name is English, meaning, "dweller at, or near the newly cultivated land." Spelling of the name varied greatly, but is most often found as Fellows, Fellowes, Felagh, Felaghs and Fellow. These families were often related. 40

He is believed by many as the William Fellows who sailed from London to America aboard the ship "Planter" on March 22, 1635. Listed as a shoemaker, William's age was recorded as 24 years. The ships' Captain was Nicholas Travice and their arrival in Boston was on April 11, 1635. His wife, Mary Ayres and his oldest son Isaac William were not listed. William settled in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, where he was to remain his entire life. 40

William was admitted to the County Court as a "Freeman" of the Colony on March 28, 1654. "Freeman status" was a social position achieved through a combination of land ownership and orthodox church membership. 40

Burial Notes Parish of St. Michael, Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts40
Mary Ayres90 Married: about 1635, Leicestershire, England
Born about 1607, Wilshire, Dorset, England
Died about 1702, Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts10
Parents possibly John Eyre or Ayres40, Hannah Webb40
Notes Mary's ancestry is a matter of question with some genealogists. Most think that she is the sister of Captain John Ayres of Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts and Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts.

A John Ayres was known to have lived in Ipswich in 1648 and 1672. In 1661 he and William Fellows jointly petitioned the county clerk on behalf of the minor children of Sarah, who was described as "our sister". Sarah had been married to William Lampson, who died Feb 1, 1658. She then wanted to marry Thomas Hartshorne, this being opposed by the petitioners, "her brothers". This is taken to mean that John Ayres was a true brother of Sarah and that William was married to the sister of Sarah and John Ayres. Thus the maiden name of Ayres for Mary.9
